We practiced at Oratia Walkway between Parrs cross rd and Sunnyvale train station. 1.2km x2 = 2.4km.
We did 1.5km last time, then this distance was a big challenge. Actually, I thought it would be easier than it actually was. The last 2 sessions were lots of laps of small distance, then Morgaina had to make U-turns at every end of the laps, for about 100 times. This is why I chose Oratia Walkway this time. It'll be only once that she has to make a U-turn.
Here is today's result. 1.5hour for 2.5km >> 36mins per km.. I am aiming 20 mins per km for Morgaina, so that we can complete Round The Bays in about 3 hours (still outside of cut-off..).
Here are the things to consider for next time.
-parasol on COGY so that the sunshine won't exhaust Morgaina as much.
-Sterring handle position. It seems that it'll be easier to use if 5-10cm lower.
I also aim to build up to 6.6km by mid February. I'm a bit worried but we will just do our best.
Both Morgaina and I were very very tired after the session. I hope Morgaina recovers well after having lunch and an afternoon nap.
Anyone who has a good idea about the practice course in west Auckland (flat, sealed, quiet, and 500m or more for a lap), please let us know!!
